April 5
Did the ironing and cleaned off dropping boards this morning. Tore out the straw-loft in chicken house and put in more nests. Helped to rake part of chicken yard and made a bed for my five Kellog strawberry plants. We all visited Wanda tonight, 'twas her 40th birthday. Boys sowed oats today.
April 4
Did the washing. The Mr. George Owens from Pekin came for his $15 boar this P.M. Had a nice little visit with his wife and her sister-inlaw. Mama and I visited Nettie Foreman this afternoon. Darned my sweater sleeves. Wrote to hog pedigrees and a letter to I. Newt Brown.
April 3
Did the morning work, cleaned off chicken roosts. Went to Sunday-school. Ora went with Robert up to Marys at Columbus, this afternoon. Helped Ora with chores this evening, wrote R.R. a letter. Nice sunshine all day, but a cool wind tonight.
April 2
Nice warm sunshine all day but a very strong south-west wind. Did the usual Saturdays cleaning. Washed my print jacket suit. Pressed my spring coat, new dress, and ironed the suit. Watched Ora weigh some hogs. Ken helped Simmons buzz wood today. Studied S. S. lesson and took a bath. 'Tis 9:30 and dad and grandpa just returned from Seymour, have been plowing gardens this P.M. received an order for a $15.00 boar from I.N. Brown, Franklin. The last of Ogdens, left for Tipton.
APRIL 1, 1932
Damp and cloudy. Snowed a little this morning, but melted as fast as it fell. Sun came out a little before noon and was nice and warm the rest of day. Hogs down to $4.30. Made a jumper out of goods mama gave me for Christmas. Cleaned off chicken roosts and chick coops. Cleaned the yard around front and back door steps. Made some button holes in underwear, tonight.
March 31
Did the morning work and mopped the kitchen. Cut out and made my yellow-waist. Rachel and Harley were out awhile after school. Set two hens this evening. Read the papers tonight. Willard returned the keys tonight. Starting back home in the morning. Rose is going too, for a visit.
March 30
A big rain last night, still cloudy and windy. Patched most all day. The boys went to Columbus to a Community sale, this p.m. Two-teat had a male calf this afternoon. Worked on a pattern for my waist, tonight. More rain.
