Still warmer and sure seems like spring. Did the usual work, read papers. Deloris Machino, won the spelling contest in this County. (Our neighbor girl). I cleaned and scrubbed the entire front porch today. A real job. Flies flying around. Tree buds are swelling. Chicks sure enjoyed sunshine today. 23 eggs.

did the morning work, some patching and read the papers. Real warm, its almost hot. Dad, mamma and I took truck to woods to get a hickory log and dirt for flowers. Truck stopped on a hillside and there stayed til Ken went and got it. Took seven more baby chicks off and put with others. Worked on quilt blocks this evening.

Up early, Kenneth sowed grass on Sheedy's. Did the ironing work, cleaned chicken roosts off and moved coops in lower part of orchard. Took 10 chicks off today. Mamma Violet and I went to Ladies Aid this afternoon. Made two quilt blocks tonight.

February 23

Did the ironing and some patching. A real cold wind blowing all day. Violet was down a few minutes this afternoon. Her and Bill took Ora and I to the Mission Church to hear the colored preacher. Ora's folk's 44th wedding year.

February 22

Sun shining bright. Did a large washing. Went up to Sheedys awhile to watch boys patch the porch roof. Chickens beginning to hatch. Ironed the curtains and hung them up since supper. Patched Ora's jacket.
