Made myself a new apron and helped mama re-make part of a dress. Picked some berries. More rain.

June 15

Did ironing chores and did lots of mending. Feeling bum so took life easy this P.M. Patched window curtains.

June 14

Did the ironing and helped do mornings works. Feeling rather bum, so loafed most all P.M. Picked a gal. of berries. Martin vaccinated the pigs this morning. Rained some this evening and still cloudy.

June 13

Did the washing and picked berries this P.M. Emma and Dean helped. Had 5 1/2 gal. Nice rain this afternoon.

June 12

Still cloudy and cooler. Went to Sun school. Took a big map and went up to where the folks were papering. Emma came home with us. She and I picked 11 qts. of berries. Helped milk and separate and went to the Children's Day Program. Cleaned out duck house before dinner.

June 11

Cleaned up the house this morning. Went to Pencie Judd's sale this afternoon. Rained this P.M.

June 10

Did mornings work. Finished picking the cherries. Had about 4 gal. Pitted them. Picked 5 gallons strawberries this P.M.

June 9

Helped pick 7 qts. gooseberries. Did the ironing. Martha bought 2 more gal. berries. Picked 2 qt. strawberries. Took mama to Dr. at Scipio. Bought 30 lbs. sugar for $2.14. Picked 1 1/2 gal. strawberries. Cleaned out duck house.

June 8

Hung up the washing. Helped pick 3 gallons gooseberries. Helped pick 8 gal. strawberries. Spaulding did not come so took 5 gallon down and sold to mama for 5 cents a qt. Martha bought gooseberries for $1.10. Dampened clothes.

June 7

Did mornings work and pitted 4 gallons of cherries. Picked 1 1/2 gal. of berries. Did the washing this P.M. Had a little shower this evening.

June 6

Picked 7 gallons of cherries. 2 1/2 of berries. Sold 3 gal. cherries at 40 cents and 1 gal. berries for 30 cents. Took Norma a bouquet. Mowed part of yard.

June 5

Went to Sunday school and church. Robert was here today. I went over to Hunnicutt this P.M. Heard about Moma's baby girl. (St. John)

June 4

Cleaned up the house and went to Four Corners this A.M. to Henry Sandhage's funeral. Picked berries, pressed Ora's suit. Folks, Mabel and Shelby were here awhile tonite. Gave one gal. and one half berries for pay, helping up to paper. Set a hen for mamma.

June 3

Cleaned off chick coops and roosts and duck house. Took off 12 ducks from the 12 eggs which mama gave me. Mama, Mabel and I went to North Vernon this P.M. Had a flat tire. Helped milk and separate.

June 2

Did mornings chores and put strings to west window for vines. Did lots of patching, read the papers. Help pick nine qts. of berries, which we sold to Dorothy for 10 cents a qt. Picked about 3 qts. of cherries. Sara , Bob, Wanda and kids were here tonite. Shelby, Mabel, Mama and Dean stopped a minute this P.M. Henry Sandhage died at noon.

JUNE 1, 1932

Raining this morning. Did the ironing and helped Ora make a pen for the ducks. They were out a long while and had a big time. Cleaned out their house and put clean straw in it. Did some patching. Picked some lettuce. Took off 10 more ducks. Set out tomato plants. Raining again tonight . Heard that the folks were planning on moving back to home place.

May 31

Carried straw to hen house and made nests. Did the washing. Picked a gallon of berries. Dampened clothes. Made 8 cheese sandwiches and went to Simmons to celebrate Howards 19th birthday June 2. Violet was down awhile this P.M. A board fell on a duck and killed it this A.M.

May 30

Took off rest of ducks. Have 51 in house with three hens. Fooled with them and picked strawberries this A.M. Esther and Harley were out awhile this morning. Cleaned out my chicken house and scrubbed it. Buried remains of hatching season.

May 29

Went to Sunday school. Took off more ducks and spent most of day in the house with them. Went to church tonight. Dr. C. L. Griffith spoke. Took flowers to grave yard.

May 28

Cold wind all day. Boys finished planting corn this P.M. Have out 51 acres. Cleaned the house up. Finished mowing front bank. Patched the holes in brooder house, cleaned chicken roosts off and coops out. Put 14 baby ducks with a hen in the house. Picked a quart of strawberries. Dusted chicks with London Purple for gaps.

May 27

Still cloudy. Picked a big pint of strawberries. Set out 92 tomato plants. Hoed some in garden. White-washed inside of the little brooder house. Patched a suit of underwear. Picked lettuce. Finished mowing yard and mowed front bank with hand scythe. Duck eggs beginning to pip.

May 26

Did mornings work and washed two comforts and a quilt. Mowed part of yard. Cleaned out the small brooder house, preparing for ducks. Shelled some corn. Sold a boar to Pete Coryell $10. Sold a veal calf at Seymour for $3. "Tis time to begin white washing trees and etc., but times are too hard. Can't afford to buy the lime. Having a nice rain tonite.

May 25

Cleaned the front room. Half way sick all day. Only ate a little bread and milk for dinner and then vomited it up. Volney Carter visited our hogs this P.M.

May 24

Velma's nineteenth birthday. Did a large ironing. Cleaned closet in front room. Picked lettuce. Up to Violets a while tonite.

May 23

Did a large washing. Cleaned off chicken coops and scrubbed them off. Worked garden. Sprinkled clothes. Sara and Bob were here tonite.

May 22

Straightened up the house and killed flies. The folks went to Sara's. Prepared dinner for Carsons. They came at twelve. We all went to J.W. Morris's in P.M. Had a nice visit. Ken killed two ground hogs with one shot.

May 21

Straightened up the house and cleaned up front room. Cleaned back porch and pantry. Mowed part of yard and worked some in the garden. We four went to Hayden tonite. Pressed Ora's new suit and my dress.

May 20

Used cleaner on all the kitchen paper. Washed wood-work and furniture. Mopped the floor and put up the clean curtains. Run a splinter under my finger nail and I have a bread and milk poultice on it now. Getting awful sore and stiff. Folks stopped a few minutes while passing. Gave Ora the sheep skin coat. Helped milk and separate.

May 19

Cleaned the living room . Used cleaner on the ceiling. Just finished it all and everything put back and Aunt Jennie, Vida and Harry came for a few minutes. Received a letter from Carsons saying that they were coming Sunday. Helped milk.

May 18

Washed woodwork and mopped the floor. Helped to empty tick and wash it and a rug. Put the rag carpet down and put up the new curtains. Washed the curtains in the living room and ironed them. Repainted a picture frame. Helped fill the tick. Helped do the milking. Have a real head-ache.
